A STEADY MARKET. ADDINGTON STOCK SALES. (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs H. Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday:— Store sheep—A very large yarding for this time of the year and mostly coin prised of ewes and lioggets which were firmer, also wethers which were only in small supply. AA’itli one or two exceptions ewes were of a very inferior quality, being mostly aged and backward in condition, and this class were hard to sell, and passings frequent. Two-tooth [-breed ewes small 31s 3d, 4-tooth ditto 30s, 4, G and 8tootli ditto 245. Two nice lines of 5breed S.M. 2*s and 27s 3d, aged ewes in lamb 13s to 17s Gd, ewes and lambs all counted to 14s 9d, ewe hoggets 21s to 30s, 7 best [-breed ditto to 30s 9d, wether hoggets lGs to 18s Gd, best to 225. forward wethers 2os to 26s 2d, extra to 28s Id.
Store cattle—A small yarding, as usual, mostly odd cqws and nondescript lots, with the exception of one nice line of 2-yr. station steers, which made £7. No other quotable lines were offering. Potter butchers were in operation at ruling rates. Beef—A much smaller yarding comprising only 300 head, but owing to most of the butchers having ample supplies on hand, the rise was not commensurate with the small yarding. In fact until the prime well finished, for medium weights there was very little difference from last week, although there was a firming tendency as the sale progressed and showed an average rise of about- 20s Od per head. Prime steers, £l3 10s to £l7 17s Gd, extra to £2O 12s Cd, medium £9 10s to £l2 15s, others to £7 10s. prime heifers £9 5s to £ll 10s, extra to £l4 12s 6d, medum £6 10s to £9. others to £4 19s Gd. Prime cows £8 5s to £lO 10s, extra to £l3 7s 6d, medium £5 5s to £B. Others to £3 Iss.
Fat- pigs—A medium yarding and prices good throughout. Porkers 50s to 60s, heavy £4 2s 6d, average lOd to lid. Baeoners. a medium yarding and prices similar to last week. Lighter sorts £4 to £5 ss, heaver £5 10s to £6 10s, extra, to £6 18s 6d, average 9d to 9[d. Choppers, same as last week. Store pigs—A large yarding, but very few weaners. The -market was rather easier all round. Sous in pig £5 to £8 ss, weaners 18s to 235, medium stores 28s to 40s, larger 45s to 61s. Mutton—Another large yarding, again mostly wethers. The quality was not so good, graziers operating sparingly. The market opened about par with last week and continued so throughout. If there was any alteration it perlinps might have been slightly firmer than last week, especially Taking the quality into consideration. AYost Coast and country butchers were again operating. Prime wethers 31s 6d to 455, extra to 38s Gd, one small pen making over 40s, medium 28s Gd to 31s. others to 25s Gd, prime ewes 23s Gd to 27s Gd, extra 32s lOd. medium 21s 6d. to 235, others to 18s Id, shorn wethers 21s 4d to 22s lOd.
