AMUSEMENTS.

EVERYBODYS PICTURES. “YOLANDA”— TO-NIGHT-1 Marion .Davies, in her new picture for Motro-Goldwyn “Yolanda,” makes her latest appearance at the Princess Theatre to-night. It is one of the finest and most artistic productions of the year. It is beautiful in its .settings, skilful in its direction, and excellent in its acting. The entire production is full of the glamour of the fifteenth century in France. Tho sets, which were devised by Joseph Urban, arc marvels of beauty, and are historically correct. Tho story is an adaptation from the novel by Charles Major of the same name, and was directed by Jtobcrt 0. Vignola. It gives Miss Davies a latitude of characterisation even greater than that realised in her earlier films, for she is called upon to delineate two characters that are quite different. She appears as Yolanda, a burgher maid, and the Princess Marv of Burgundy. She gives a finished performance in both characterisations, proving, anew, that she is one of the most charming of tho present day screen actresses. Tho cast throughout is a notable one, both in the names of its players and in tho excellence of their acting. Holbrook Blinn presents the wily and fascinating King Louis XT. of France, a sinister figure on tho verge of insanity. Lynn Harding, whose vigorous and sure handling of the part of Charles the Bond, Duke of Burgundy, attests to bis mastery of screen technique,, give a most commanding interpretation Another important role is played by Ralph Graves, as the handsome and resourceful Prince Maximilian of Styria, whose love affair with Yolanda, gives romantic interest to tho story. A good tropical and comedy will also he shown.
