Full and satisfactory clearances were made. Greasy merinos sold to 24J pence. MURDERS PREMEDITATED. MELBOURNE. August, 30. Apparently Aleock shot his family while they were asleep. Apparently the tragedy was premeditated as all the doors and windows in the house wore locked. A shot 'gun was vised. The discovery was made by Aleock’s two brothers, who, remarking on his absence from their house, went to his residence. After forcing an entrance, tltay found 1 the* bodies. It is apparent tho family were asleep when shot, as the children were all smiling. All Id’ie family were in night attire, with the exception of-the father. Aleock was very fond of his children and his wife, and be was always on most amicable, terms with them. SERIOUS EIRE. SYDNEY. August 39. A fire at Burringbar destroyed five business premises. Arrangements have been made for a flight covering fourteen thousand miles from Melbourne to Samoa, via the east coast- of Australia, Thursday Island, New Guinea, Rabaul, Santa Cruz, New Hebrides, jS'ew Caledonia and Fiji Group. Captain Williams is to he in charge, accompanied by a mechanic, who is trained as a pilot, and a wireless operator. Tlie flight is expected to occupy two months, commencing early in Septemlier. MURDER TRIAL. TREFFENE’S EVIDENCE. PERTH, Aug. 31. In the Kalgoorlie murder trial, Troffene in the witness I>ax gave a denial to most of tho statements by Clarke, who had turned King’s evidence. He stated it was Clarke who cut up and disposed of the bodies. Ho said Clarke had set out to blow the insides of the shaft where he deposited the bodies, but when he saw/a motor, car approaching, he turned hack. Treffene said he did not tell the police of the accidental shooting, when they interviewed him, as ho had promised to he loval to Clarke.
