For the first time in the history of the New Zealand police force the method of examination among the uniformed branch and the detectives, with the Commissioner as judge, is to be done away with, and an entirely new system, contrived by, Mr APllveney. An examination board, comprising a Stipendiary .Magistrate as chairman and two coinmissioned officers of the police force, one of wf'oni lias spent his whole service in Ihe uniform branch and the other in the detective branch, lias been set up to deai with the examination papers. The questions on police work will be put by tile Commissioner. The hoard will deal with the papers and award the marks. The hoard for next month's examination is Mr W. G. Kiddell. chairman.
