[Australia <fe N.Z. Cable Association.] AIEDICAL AIEN CONFER. SYDNEY, Aug. 20.. A convention of medical men repi'e- - smiting .all States of tho Commonwealth and New Zealand is at present meeting in Sydney to consider a scheme for the establishment of an Australasian College of Surgeons, which will advance the study of science and art of surgery, establish laboratories, journals and elevate the practice of surgery in hospitals and in private practice. The present convention will arrange details in readiness for the Australasian Medical Congress which meets at Dunedin next year, and which will inaugurate the college convention selected from 120 voluntoei’s. Forty men who will he asked to found the college all are prominent surgeons in Australia and New Zealand. At present four colleges of surgeons exist, Royal Colleges of England, Edinburgh, Ireland and American College. The propounders of the scheme propose to establish a fifth in the Antipodes and hope that before long it will so clearly demonstrate its uselulnoss that a royal charter will be isued to it. The “Daily Guardian” announces it is organising its own world wide cable service, independent of the Australian Press Association and Reuter, commencing in September.
