COAL TROUBLE.

QUIET OX COALFIELDS. [Router Telegrams.] (Received this day at 10.15 a.in.) LONDON, Aug. 25. The situation on the coal fields appears to he improving. Everything is reported quiet on Notts coal field tin’s morning. The police in Mansfield report no pickets in the streets and more miners iaro returning to work. It is understood the Home Office lias drawn up plans for the movement of large numbers of police from Ijoncfon and other unaffected areas to the coal fields. A high official stated the Home Secretary is determined that utmost possible protection will he provided for anyone willing to work. Every eflort is being made to combat intimidation. "* Tho Home Office reports shewed stories of intimidation and violence were exaggerated hut undoubtedly the situation is difficult. There is no question of interference by any other bodies than police.
