BOY SCOUTS.

(Contributed.) •I ho Second Hokitika are feeling very satisfied with tho result of tho entertainment they gave last Friday. In the first place, it was their first attempt at a public show for nearly two and a-hall years, and it has helped to put the scouts and cubs back on the map. Also tbe rehearsals had been very many times stopped or slowed down by sickness, and everything bad to be recast several times so that it was a relief to all concerned to find their attempts so well received by an excellent audience. The fact that it rained that evening was a surprise to no-one intimate with this troop’s luck in the weather business, but for once the weather failed to keep away those who had heard what was afoot and all the available seating was filled.

With these rehearsals behind them the scouts are now able to get back to their practical work and a busy time is ahead, starting with a camp at Awatuna this week.. The troop is three years old next month, and it is hoped to make the start of the fourth year a time for general reorganisation in all directions. The one'stumbling block is still the lack of adult helpers and it is hoped that even this may be put right in the near future. Final arrangements for the “ Ti;oop Birthday” celebrations will lie before the committee at its meeting on September 14tli.

In the Second Pack Win, Sanders ami Win. Toohcy have each gained their First Star. The Cubs are asked to note that their meeting will be held at the usual time next Tuesday and that those who are in the camping party arc to bring their kit to the Pack Meeting. The Saturday morning meeting this! week will not he held.
