David Leslie Manson, a married railway ganger, residing at Penrose, was knocked down by an engine in Parnell Tunnel at 11 o’clock this morning. The inquiry was adjourned for further evidence. N.Z. DAIRY CONTROL. WELLINGTON, Aug. 22. Private advice received at Auckland during the past few days was to the fact that the Tooley Street- importers are refusing to establish credits in the name of the -New Zealand Dairy Produce Export Control Board, as required for the purposes of compulsory control, hut were prepared to do so, through their agents in New Zealand. The matter was referred to the Secretary of the Board, Mr T. G. Brash. The letters of credit required by the Board for carrying out of its policy, as from September Ist., have been definitely arranged for said Brash. A number of them have been cabled to New Zealand, and others are on the way. *■

A BURGLARY. ASHBURTON Aug. 21. A thief entered J. and J. Sutherland’s Bakery shop last night stealing the cash box containing about £5 in silver. Entry was effected by removing the putty from a window in the Bakehouse. the caslibox was removed from where it was secreted in the office. The intruder left his hat and a packet containing four cigarettes on the floor near the window. A suspect was arrested this morning. The burglary follows an incident the previous night when W. H. Collins and Co plate glass window was smashed an electric torch case valued 11/r stolen.
