BOY SCOUTS

(Contributed.) The event of the month will bo the entertainment which the Second Troop and Pack are giving at the Town Hall this Friday evening. This lias been in preparation for a good while, but. has been delayed by sickness and the hoys will lie pleased to see the long series of rehearsals producing their desired object. Just to whet the public appetite it might be well to mention that an advance glance at the programme reveals the following mysterious and

rather suggestive titles among a long series of varied items:—The Ginger Beer Party, Custard Quick! and Who Stole the Jam? Tickets have been selling briskly by both scouts and cubs and a crowded house is expected.' Early next week a party of the scouts will trek out to Awatuna for a few days in camp, and this will be followed during the following week by a training camp for those cubs who are preparing to become, scouts. The various meetings will be as usual during the school holidays except- that the Second Pack meeting usually held on Tuesday afternoon will he on Mondaynext week.

M. “Robinson passed the Tenderpad Tests and was enrolled in the Second Pack last Saturday. This took place at the highly successful day on the beach at South Hokitika, when, for once, the Cubs were really fortunate in the. matter of weather. Most of the cubs who are not on the sick list turned out and a very strenuous pro-

gramme of games and contests filled all the available time, so that ‘' tired but liappv ” exactly- expresses the atmosphere on the return tramp when some of the younger boys were glad enough to accept car rides offered by generous members of the Golf Club.
