'Hie Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. Hie Samoa, Amendment Bill and Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill " ere reported from the Statute Bevi•sion Committee without amendment, latter being put tnrongh all stages and passed. Ihe Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Bill and Industrial Societies Amendment Bill were read a second time. The Scenery Preservation Amendment Bill, Cook Islands Amendment Bill, Cinematograph Film Censorship Amendment Bill, Cemetries Amendment Bill and the National Provident h und Bill were put through the final stages and passed unamended. In the course of the discussion on the Dairy Produce Export Control Amendment Bill which was also passed without alteration Hon. Heed expressed preference for the college system ot election. He was inclined to think a candidate who talked the most hot air rather than the hard-headed business man would be elected under the ward system.
Hon. Newman repudiated the idea that the object of control was to fix prices in London and said the idea Was solely to regulate the flow of supplies to the market, avoiding slumps and market depressions. New Zealand eventually would also have a go in for wool control. He hoped the Dairy Board would not he threatened with Government interference-.
The Council adjourned at 4.45 p.m. until next day. THE HOUSE. The House met at 2..‘1f). .Scientific and Industrial Research Bill, Howard Estate Amendment Bill, Family Allowances Bill, Daily Industry Amendment Bill, Fisheries Amendment Bill. Pee] Forest Bill, Guardianship of Infants’ Bill and Local Railways Amendment Bill were put through all stages and.passed. The House rose at 12.5 a.m. till 2.30 p.m.
