“SPOOK RANCH ”—TO-NI^HT.

“Say what you will,” declares Edv.'ard Laernmle, director of “Spook Ranch,” the latest Universal-Jewel production in which Hoot Gibson will thrill the audience at the Princess Iheatre to-night, “ nothing can equal the- old-time melodramatic fixings for the real punch and holding power in a Western picture. Nothing iu the way ol 1 highbrow ’ drama has been invented that can take the place of tho swaggering Loro with guns and spurs and dare-devil courage who rescues the helpless girl from the sneering scoundrel with his polished manners and his insolent pointed moustache. The story of ‘ Spook Ranch ” is one of tho best Western tales I have over had the pleasure of working with—and believe me, it is a real pleasure to direct a dashing, spirited Western man like Hoot Gibson in the stellar saddle, for Hoot is a man’s man., on the screen and off. He has, among other tilings, the distinction of holding the world’s records in roping and riding for three consecutive years, a record unprecedented in the annals of the Pendleton Round-Up—and he can act the gentleman or the lover when occasion demands. Robert MeKim, in the character of ‘ Don Ramies,’ is a villain of the old school—a villain with a vengeance. Helen Ferguson is a. first grade heroine of the ‘heart throb’ variety, and the other players are strong types of the West that bring back the happy days when melodrama was melodrama. There is the .slinking

‘ greaser.’ the blustery sheriff with his walrus moustache and the ghost-scared negro. The other types of the West are characterized with skill by cowmen to the manner born.” The supporting cast includes, in addition to the players mentioned, Ed Cowles. Tote Due-row. and Frank Rice. Robert McKrini and Ed Cowles.

A topical, the serial and a. comedy will also he shown.
