ADDINCTON STOCK SALES. A VERY LARGE! ENTRY. (By Telegraph,—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. .Messrs 11. Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday:— Beef—-There was an exceptionally large yarding, nearly 700 head, and even considering tlie fact that there was no sale last week, tlie ■entry was too much for local requirements. The market was very irregular, but any good quality prime medium weights sold well. Passings in the earlier portion of the sale were fairly frequent, hut as the sale progressed buyers evidently decided to accept the prices offering, and consequently most of tlie yarding was sold at auction. Steers, wo should sav, were £1 to 30s down and cows and heifers about his to Cl, hut considering the large yarding of beef and mutton, the sale must lie considered a good one. Prime steers £l4 10s to .CIO 10s, extra to £2l 12s fid, medium. £l2 10s to £ll, others to £9. Prime heifers £9 to £ll 10s, extra to £lo 12s Gd, medium £G 10s to .£8 8s TOd. others to £1 Los. Prime cows £9 to £lO los, extra to £l‘>. medium £(S to £7 10s, others to £4.

Store sheep-—A large yarding for this time of the year and with few exceptions the quality was very unattractive. Any good quality sheep met with a good demand, but travelled stained backward sorts were neglected. The hoggets, generally speaking, were of very poor variety and were hard' to sell. Withers in our -opinion, sold better in comparison than they did in the fat pens. Half tired wetlihr hoggets 18s to 225, cross bred ewe hoggets 2ls to 24s Gd, host forward wethers 2os to 27s 4d. others to 21s 6d. Best small J-bred ewes 34s to 38s fid, aged ditto 22s to 275.

Store cattle—A large entry but mostly odd cows and nondescript lots. One small lino of 3 and 4 year steers made £i i(is, other lots unchanged.

bat pigs-—A smaller entry of porkers, bncotiers a full yarding. Prices in both sections were very good, being even better than late rates. Values wore: Light porkers 54s to 60s, heavy 63s to 84s, average 10. pl to 11 pi; light baconers £4 lOs to £s'lo, heavy £fi 15s to £6 10s, extra to £7 10s, average 9p] to l(kl.

Choppers—Too many were yarded and except for two or three exceptional quality and weight, prices in this section were easier. Values were £4 to £lO 18s fid.

Store pigs—A very large entry and prices were in advance of late rates. A goad sale throughout. Values were: Moaners 22s to 28s, slips 30s to 34s', small stores 35s to 4Ls, medium 43s to 48s, large 50s to 5<U. extra large to £3.

Mut'ton— An exceptionally heavy yarding, in fact larger than the double market a fortnight ago, and in the fare of the large beef entry, too many for local requirements. Yerv few owes wore offering. The market opened a good deal easier than last week, but as the sale progressed it firmed soine"hnt and considering the very large entry the sale must be considered a goocr one, although in our opinion there was an average decline of about Is 6d per head. The quality generally uas very good, graziers operating freely on any good shearing sheep, ar wall the competition of West Const and country butchers helped the market materially. Prime wethers 31s to Jos fid, extra to 37s lOd, medium 2Ss 6 ’ to 30s fid, others to 275. Prime ewes of! r ? , 28S ’ eXtra to 31s Gd, medium 2Ls fid to 235. others to 17s.
