MEXICANS CAUSE TROUBLE
VANCOUVER, Aug. 17
“Our immigration policy has been responsible for prosperity by raising wages and the standards of living,” declared the United States Secretary for Labour, Mr Davis, in a speech here today. He reiterated that America had no intention of enacting an immigration law which would exclude Canadians. “IVe are only seeking exactly wliat Canada, Australia, and New Zealand have been for a long time. Under the present law we cannot exclude immigrants so long as they comply with the regulations. Our present prohlem is with the influx of Mexicans, who compete against our own workers, and create a situation nearly as serious as the Orientals create in Canada.”
