fAustralia & N.Z. Cable Association.] A GSTR ALASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. BRISBANE, August 17. The first day’s events in the Decathlon Championships were held at the Exhibition ground to-day. The progressive totals at the end of the day were:— Kroger (Victoria) 3457.403 points. Spicer (N.S.W.) 3050.848 points. Moore (South Australia) 2871.828 points. Shirley (N.Z.) 2560.G07 points. Beats (Queensland) 2604.205 points. Keskiner (Queensland) 2577.946 points. Kroger secured the best time, 11 2-5 seconds in the hundred metres flat, Shirley’s time being 12 4-5 seconds. In the Shot putt Keskiner headed the points with thirty-four feet five inches, Shirley throwing twenty-eight feet five inches.Spicer headed the 'high jump with five feet nine inches. Shirley was next with five feet eight inches. The best time for the 400 metres flat went .to’Kroger, 52 2-5 secs. Shirley’s time was 57 1-5 secs, The Victorian also headed the points in the broad jump, with 21 feet three and n-half inches, Shirley being a close second with twenty-eight feet and a half inches.
