Charles Pnrdie (Auckland) defeated Em Baxter (Australia) on points tonight. For part of the distance, it was a fairly even contest, hut towards the end Purdy opened up. Hitting cleanly, lie inflicted severe punishment on Baxter. Purdy has certainly, developed a punch. He used splendid head work, causing Baxter to miss with many blows.
