LORD KITCHENER.
NO BODY IX COFFIN. [Australia & N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received this day at 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 16. A. crowd gathered outside Lambeth Coroner’s Court where tho coffin allegedly containing the body of Lord Kitchener is lying. The proceedings were most secret. The Coroner was attended by Sir Bernard Spillsburg and Scotland Yard officials and detectives. Tho examination lasted threequarters of an hour. Subsequently tho Home Office announced that when the packing case was opened it was found to contain, an empty coffin, apparently new. It obviously had never contained human remains.
