DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS—TO-NIGHT.
“ Don Q, Son of Zorro,” Douglas Fairbanks’ new photoplay, coming to the Princess Theatre to-night is a colourful adventure-romance set in a Spanish locale, it is built up from the novel “ Don Q’s Love Story,” by K. and Hesketh. Prichard. The adaptation was prepared by Jack Cunningham. and Donald Crisp is the director. In this now offering Douglas plays a dual role. In this instance he is Zorro, the father, and Don Q, the son. The dashing Zorro, grown older but a sword-slashing demon is replaced by his adventurous, romantic son, who inherits all of the father’s courage, wit and charm. Princess dc Bourbon, distinguished member of Spain’s ancient nobility and descended from the famous house of Bourbon, which held sway for so long in France, Spain and Naples is cast in the role of a lowly peasant in “ Don Q, Son of Zorro,” and the sincerity and fidelity with which she portrays the part indicates that she may rise to the same high estate in the film realm that her ancestor occupied in the political world of Europe. That the Princess do Bourbon possesses the inborn courage of kings and queens was proven when a horse rail into her during the making of “Don Q, Son of Zorro,” inflicting painful contusions. Despite her injury,'the Princess went through with her part of a peasant girl in the scene, retiring from the set only when ordered to do so hv Donald Crisp, the director. A Topical and comedy complete the display to-night. Coming Friday: “ The Bridge of Sighs.”
