MEAT EXPORT COY. WELLINGTON, Aug. 7. An extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of the Wellington Meat Export Company, resolved to reduce the capital of the company to £IOO,OOO sterling and to authorise flic issue of new capital to the extent of £150,000, the new issue to carry an eight per cent dividend.
INCOME TAX FRAUDS. WELLINGTON, Aug. 0. The hearing of charges against Odlin Timber and Hardware Coy of wilfully making false income tlix returns for the years 1921 and Ifo4 concluded to-day. The Magistrate. Mr Page, convicted and fined the .company £IOO on each of four information's fur negligently 'returning false returns for the same period. “I can understand that, in a business ns large as the defendants, a number of items might be erroneously missed, but when they are entered year after year, it seems to me impossible to believe that the returns wore sent innocently,” sMd the Magistrate. “I think that the most benevolent view I caii take of the matter is that the Company know that their returns wore false and therefore must enter a conviction cm each of four charges.
N.X. PIGEON SHOOTING. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 0. A live pigeon match for tho Now Zealand Championship was fired at R'angiora to-day. There were forty-five competitors from all parts of the Dominion. and the weather was fine, with a troublesome west wind during t J c first part of the day. The .championship was won by fi. Arnst (Canterbury), A. Dobson ("Auckland) and R. S. Tavlor (Cliristchurch) being second.
ELECTRICAL WORKER’S SHOCK. DUNEDIN, Aug. 0. An employee of the Otago Electric Power Board. John Halhi. was admitted to Milton Tfospfljd yesterday, suffering from severe, burns to the left arm and both 'feet and shock. Halba was engaged working at a sub-station near Milton when a ladder he was carrying touched a 33,000 volt li'e wire. Halba was severely burned and was rendered unconscious. A FATAL FALL. WELLINGTON, August 7. i Maruiee O’Kano, a linesman employed by the Hurt Valley Power Board from a. pole near Porirua. and was killed.
