LATE LOCALS.

Dr Hilgendorf, Biologist and Director of Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln, accompanied by Mr C. S. Dalgliesh, Fields Instructor, is to-day-visiting the Ivokatahi and Koiterangi districts for the purpose of investigating and obtaining samples of grasses for experimental purposes in establishing permanent pasture land. Yesterday the Grey Valley and Waimaunga State Farm were visited, and to-night Dr Hilgendorf has consented to deliver a lecture in the Town Hall at 8 p.m,. on various matters of interest to the farming community, and all interested in agricultural development. Mr Dalgliesh has also been experimenting iu the successful growing of swecTes and his results should prove a boon to those who depend on root crops . for their winter food supply for stock.
