THE ROYAL TOUR.

NEW ZEALAND FIRST VISITED.

[Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.!

LONDON, Aug. 5,

It is understood that the Duke and Duchess of York arc leaving England in H.M.S. Renown in the middle of January, by the Suez route, calling at Colombo in accordance with custom. Thence, they ,go to Fremantle, Hobart and New Zealand where they will spend a month. , Thereafter they proceed to Australia for tho Canberra ceremony, which will lie the culminating, instead of tho initial function of the tour. Tho Duke and Duchess will travel in Australia until the end of Mnv.

These changes in the original proposed itinerary are designed to allow Royalty to escape the relatively generous Australian sunshine. The departure in January ensues the coolest passage through the Red Sea, and the decision to tour New Zealand prior to Australia was animated by the same desire.
