For being on licensed premises unlawfully after hours convictions were recorded as follows:—One offender (Kokatahi Hotel) to pay costs 15s. One (Royal Hotel, Woodstock) to pay costs Os. SHOOTING NATIVE GAME. In the adjourned ease of Police v. J. Toohey and R. Elucty, Air Murdoch quoted law points in support, of his claim that the Aralmra River from Tuhua to the sea was Maori land. Judgment was then reserved. AIAINTENANCE CHARGE. In a charge of failure to carry out a maintenance order, defendant was convicted and sentenced to 14 days, unless £7 10s and £1 Is costs were paid within 3 days. CIVIL CASKS. Judgment for plaintiffs was given in the following cases with costs: — C. Woolhouse (Air Pilkington) v. AY. AIcK. Haroourt, claim £5 Is, with costs £2 3s. L. Gooch (Air Murdoch) v. N. Rockford, £0 13s (id and costs 31s 6d. -Same v. Jos. Freitas, £3 2s 2d and costs 22s Gd. Same v. J. T. Tiinpson, £4 2s Sd and costs ,23s 6d. O. Roxborough (Mr Pilkington) v. Tlios. Ward, £8 8s and costs 30s Gd. Same v. AVm. Slinnd, £8 8s and costs 30s Gd. A. Snell (Air Sellers) v. A. AY. Dale £7 and costs 30s Gel. J. A. Dowell (Mr Sellers) v. Jas. Bannister, judgment summons £3 3s Gd. Order made. A. AY. Ynrnill (Mr Pilkington) v. Geo. Ale-Cloud, judgment summons, £9 17s Get. No order made. AATn. Pcrrv and Co. (Air Alurdoch) v. R. Maekley, £ls Ms Gd and costs £4 9s. ATTEAIPTED SUI CEDE. AA'illium Henry Smyth was charged that at Three Alile on 18till July he attempted to commit suicide. Air Joyce for the defendant, who pleaded guilty. Detective March stated that defendant went home under the influence of liquor and about 3.30 a.m., he went to- a chest of drawers and took a niftor and cut his throat, lie was taken to tho hospital for treatment by Dr Baird. He informed the police that he had no knowledge of the happening. His AA’orsliin adjourned sentence until ho had heard a. following charge. Accused was subsequently convicted and ordered to come lip for senteiu-e within 12 months if called upon. AN INDICTABLE CHARGE. William Henry Smyth was then charged with on divers dates carnally knowing his daughter, aged 14 years. Ah' Joyce appeared for accused. The Court was cleared for the hearing of evidence. Alter hearing evidence accused reserved his defence and was committed for trial at the next sittings ol the Supreme Court.
