The batsmen commenced early to take risks. Davies was run out through a smart return by Taylor throwing down the wicket from thirty yards. Arnett’s partnership with Walters was particularly bright adding thirty runs. Arnott adopted forcing tactics and Lit one six, and four fours. Walters made good off sale strokes, and was sound and attractive.

Second innings 439 (Head not out 175, Parker 156). Kent in the first innings made 412 (Hardinge 117, Woolley 67, Chapman 136). Newman took 5 for 156. Second innings 172 for 1 (Woolley not out 62. Chapman not out 81). Kent won by nine wickets.

Tn the Lancashire v. Yorkshire game the former in the first innings made 509 for 9 declared (Makepeace 126. E. Tyldesley 139, Watson 92b Rhodes took 7 for 116.
