As a result of representation by the Tasmania and Victorian potato growers, the Tariff Board in Melbourne, will discuss the advisability of increasing tllfo duty on imported potatoes. The “ Herald ” says agents view the possible outcome of the enquiry with considerable perturbation. It is pointed out that an increase can only be aimed at New Zealand potatoes, of which, in consequence of the small crop throughout the Commonwealth large quantities have been imported during t'he present season. One agent the height to which prices would have soared had no New Zealand potatoes been forthcoming was a matter for speculation, but it would have been carried beyond the reach of most of tlie people..
