AUCKLAND, August 2. The following sentences were passed this morning by Justice Stringer:— George Edward Welch, breaking and entering with intent, two years’ hard labour.
Reginald Clarence AA'atson, samo offence, two years’ probation. If AA’elcli gets in trouble again he would qualify for an habitual.
Claude Cnproit. forgery, to two years probation. John Jeffrey, failing to account for a deposit on. a lease ol £IOO, since refunded, to twelve months’ probation. Sentence was deferred until Tuesday on George Vincent, for negligent driving. the Judge wishing to confer with Justice Hei'dman, owing to the difficultv ot the ease.
Justice Herdman sentenced Claude Hill, for theft of a motor car, to six months’ hard, and fined Alfred .Tames Dickinson £SO, for negligently driving a car so as to cause the death of Frank AVilsou, a . Hamilton resident. The jury had' recommended Dickinson to mercy.
