Robert Wheatley, 73, a resident of Petone, died in the hospital as the result of injuries received through being knocked down by a motor ear while crossing a street at Petone. GUN EXPLOSION ACCIDENT. WAIJIATE, July 29. While a Makikibi resident, named McKee, was extracting a cartridge from a gun with a pocket knife, the charge exploded, and D. E. England, a young man who was just entering the (JoorvDy a few feet away, received the full charge of buckshot in the abdomen. His condition is serious. FATAL SHOOTING. WAIMATE, July 30. D. E. England, who received an accidental discharge of buckshot in the abdomen yesterday, died in tbe hospital last night. ALLEGED FORGERY. TIMARIj, July 30. At the Police Court this morning a young man, William John Hardie, was charged with forgery and uttering a cheque for £l7 6s and was remanded till Wednesday.
