Kay, Independent member of the Legislative Assembly has resigned his .seat in order to he appointed to the reconstituted meat hoard. He will be succeeded by Arthur Tonge who stood in the Labour interest at last elections. The Government will now have an absolute majority in the Assembly. -MIGRATION POLICY! SYDNEY, July 29. Tn a definite statement outlining the policy of the Government regarding migration, the .Minister of Labour and Industry, Air Baddelev, said while employment conditions for local residents in industries were unfavourable, it would not he the policy of tho Government to aggravate the position by granting assisted passages to workers in those industries from oversea. The Government would not interfere with migration of close relatives and nomination in this regard would still be accepted. Group nominations would he subject to the closest scrutiny owing to the fact that difficulty was being experienced by nominators in placing their nominees in employment after thev arrive. QU EE NS LAND PARLIAMENT. BRISBANE. July 29. The Labour Party has decided that the salaries of the members of the Legislative Assembly will he increased by £250 per annum to £750 and Alinisters to £1,250. There will he no re-, version to night sittings.
