TROUT FROM N.Z.
12,000 .MILKS JOURNEY TO DINNER-TABLE.
Sixty rainbow and brown trout have been brought in ice from New Zealand for the annual dinner of New Zealanders in London at the Hotel Victoria, Northumberland avenue, W.C., which the Duke of York will attend (says the London “ Daily Mail ’’). This is the first experiment of its kind, and the trout have been sent as a gift by the New Zealand Government after being caught by Government anglers in Lake Taupo, the fishing centre in the North Island. To help in the experiment the New Zealand Shipping Company conveyed the fish from New Zealand—l2,6oo miles—free of charge. They arrived in excellent condition. The New Zealand Government has also forwarded the ingredients for toJieroa soup, so that the Duke of York will be able to taste what the Prince of Wales , regarded as the most delicious soup he had tasted. He was so fond of it that during his visit to New Zealand special supplies were always kept available for him. and “ Prince of Wales ” soup has almost displaced the Maori name.
