FOOTBALL.

WESTLAND SUB-IJNION. Tiie weekly meeting was held last evening at 8 o’clock. Present—Messrs F. McGregor (Chairman), J. J. Breeze, D. Dowell, Moore, Stafford, Partridge, Steele, Burns, Lawn, Howat and Heenan. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Schools Sub-Committee reporting on past matches and submitting the week’s matches for approval.— Wednesday at 3.30 p.m., School A. v. B.; Saturday, 11 a.m. at Ross, Convent v. Ross.—Received and approved. From Kiwi Third Grade team notifying disbandment of the team. —Received. It was resolved to notify that the Union could not grant transfers at this stage of the season and to ask that a. strenuous effort ho made to reorganise the team. From Ross Club notifying withdrawal from competition.—Received, ft was resolved that the withdrawal be accepted and that the consequences of endeavouring to introduce the Dengue game he pointed out. E. M. Best was granted a transfer to the Excelsior Club. From Ivokatahi Club in reference to entering a third grade team.—Received. A suggestion to defer consideration until the end of Jibe present competition, when an endeavour would be made to arrange a new competition, was lost and it was resolved to meet the Club’s wishes by making arrangements for a game with one of the local teams. Messrs Carter and Clarke waited on the Union regarding the position of the Ross Club. Old Boys’ Club (Westport) notified that they would be visiting Hokitika to play Excelsior juniors on August 14th at 3 p.m.—Received and fixture agreed to. It was resolved to ask the West Coast Rugby Union for a postponement of the senior fixture.
