INQUEST VERDICT. SYDNEY, July 26
At the inquest on Ruth Clarkson, shot on July 12, the Coroner returned a verdict that Captain Strymans murdered Clarkson, and committed him for iria! on that charge.
JAPANESE IN QUEENSLAND BRISBANE), July 26. The Japanese Consul-General for Australia, Air Tokugawn, after investigating the. conditions of the Japanese residents in Queensland, lias expressed himself as well pleased. The Consul-General added that the Japanese relations with Australia must always be friendly. The Japanese Go veniment and people, he said, desired that all the nations bordering on the Pacific should co-operate in the noble work of maintaining the peace of tho Pacific, thus helping towards universal % peace.
THE REFERENDA. SYDNEY, July 26. The writs for Alt Bruce’s Referenda Poll were issued to-day. The vote will be taken on September 4th. AIR BRUCE AND CONFERENCE. AIELBOURNE, July 27. Mr Bruce announced that he is prepared to agree to the postponement of the Imperial Conference' to the 19th October, if necessary to suit the interests of the Canadian Alinistry.
