A firm which made a contract with the Auckland City Council discovered an error of £IOOO in the addition of a page. A representative of the firm interviewed the Auditor-General, who took up the attitude that, as the mistake was genuine, the Department would offer no objection if payment was made. The City Council last night received letters from the firm and the Auditor-General, who requested con.firination of the firm’s representations that the council would make good the £IOOO, subject to the Audit I' months consent. The Tramways, Water and Electricity Committee’s, recommendation was adopted, that the city solicitor should obtain a Supreme Court ruling.
Captain Maurice Buckley has been appointed flying instructor at the Wigram Aerodrome and has taken up his duties there. Captain Buckley’s appointment has been brought about through the promotion of Captain .1L. Findlay to the position of Officer Commanding the Wigmm ’drome, m the place of Captain L. M. Isitt, who I’ms been attached to the Air Ministry in England for eighteen months for instruction in seaplane work. During the war, Captain Buckley served with the R.A.F. in Salonika and in France. He was later employed by the Canterbury Aviation Company and bv the New Zealand Aero Transport Company, which had its headquarters at Timaru, Captain Buckley was the first aviator to make the trip by air from Greymouth to Christchurch. He had been flying at the Hokitika Exhibition in 1923-24,
