Canon IV. S. Bean, who has solemnised so many marriages at his picturesque Church of St. Mary's at Addington, was the officiating minister on Tuesday forenoon at the marriage of his own daughter, May. Special interest attached to the. wedding, because the bride, who is the fourth daughter of Canon and Mrs Bean, is tho grandda lighter of the late Rt. Hon. Richard John Seddon, for many years Prfhi'e Minister of New Zealand, and of Mrs Seddon, of Wellington. The bridegroom was Mr Douglas Graham Macfariane, of Rate Downs North Canterbury, third son if Mrs Macfarlario and the late Mr J. Macfarlane, of Hawkswood. Parnassus.

Flowering cinerarias and pot palms formed suitable decorations for the church, and nuptial music was played bv Miss Packer.

Mr T. E. Y. Seddon, AI.P. for Westland, gave away his niece, and Mr John K. Macfarlane aetecl as best man for his cousin.

The bride wore an attractively uncommon frock of very fine navy 1 opp. with narrow buckled belt and skirt finely box-pleated in front. .The coatee bodice fell lose in front over a vest of nlisse georgette in hois do rose shade, •uii! the long sleeves, wide at the wrist, were trimmed with inlet panels •of coloured georgette. The liat of hois de rose*Bangkok straw was sinartlv trimmed with corded ribbon of the same shade, and she carried a tlagrau.•posy of narcissi ancT freesias. Miss Molly Bean, who attended her sister, wore a jumper suit with skirt of deep maize inarocaiu, and shortsleeved jumper of maize and cream 'noucletie. with tabs of the deeper shades centred with pearl buttons. Her small Bangkok straw hat' matched her frock, and she carried a posy of spring

flowers. Following the ceremony, Canon Bean and Airs Bean entertained idatives of the bride and bridegroom at a small reception at the Vicarage. Mrs Bean’s decoming gown of black "crene tmirnine was brightened with handsome Chinese embroidery in tones of gold, blue, and green, and her black hat was trimmed with gold. She cniried a bouquet of bronze and gold

flowers. / When leaving for the wedding tour, Airs Douglas Macfarlane wore a. very smart maroonin'jumper suit, the skirt of clove grey, accordion-pleated, and the jumper of cream, vividly patterned in flame and gold in an all-over t!eam! quaintly bordered with small scallops. Over it, she wore a plainly tailored coat of .heather tweod, and a grey fur, and her lmt was of smoke blue felt, lined with black, and trimmed with si shaded feather mount atone side.
