AN IMPORTANT DISCOVERY. LONDON, July 16
Details are announced of a British discovery of electrolytic orgyllum, likely to revolutionise airplane construction by permitting welding instead of riveting. It is derived from an alloy of beryl and quartz. It is almost ns light as paper and strong as iron, yet elastic and durable. Doctor’Rosenhaine’s research brought beryllium within two per cent of perfection. It is far in advance of any German discovery.

The annual report of the Transport General Workers’ Union shows the assets and funds at the end of 1920 were half a million sterling. This has all been spent in the miners’ struggle.
