CORRESPONDENCE
CASS SQUARE TREES.
■/-. (To the Editor.) Sir,—Having read the reports of the discussion that is at present occupying the time of the present Borough Council, and the attention of tilie resiof 'Hokitika in reference to the outcry that the local nightwatchman cainot see over the tops of the trees (HwCass Square, I would ask: Why in the name of common sense is the watch-tower erected in suc'h a low-lying part of the town? when a clear view of the whole, also most of the outlying district, including Artliurstown, Woodstock and South Hokitika would bo obtained if the look-out tower nas removed to any part of the terrace overlooking Cass Square, or even in Hampden street north. Top them if you like on the Gasworks side; but leave the grand old trees for the admiration of nature lovers of the present and future generations. Hoping you will be able to find space in your valuable columns for these suggestions, and thanking,—l am, etc, — * _ LOVER OF THE BEAUTIFUL.
