\ At Christchurch a railway porter who Avns visting'some friends was asked to go to a. room for some article, and, when he entered it ,liis eyes fell o" < open cashhox containing a lot of money which was lying on a bed. The temptation was too great and the man fell, taking a- £lO note. He was Andrew Ivan CJhristie, aged 31, and he appeared before Mr H. A. "Young, S.M. on Tuesday and was charged with the theft of a £lO note, the property of Mary' Jane Haase. He pleaded guilty and was admitted to probation for 12 months, conditions being that he must take out a prohibition order and refund £4 in such manner as the Probation Officer might direct. An order for the return of the money to the complainant was made.
