The restoration of -at least one important German steamship line to something like its pre-war piestige is now to he seen, in the sale of three vessels ,the “Reliance,” the ‘Resolute” and the “Cleveland,” by the United American lines to the Haihburg-Ameri-cau line. The price paid is nine million dollars. This sale marks also the retirement of one of the most important American owned companies from the international passenger carrying trade. The Hamburg-American Line, which was completely destroyed during the war, now has, with these three "new vessels, a tonnage of five'hundred thousand. This is approximately, forty pe? cent, of its pre-war condition. The Ellers firm will receive a finaiv cial interest in the purchasing company.
