A Philadelphia telegram states that the Mahommcdan crew of 29 seamen abandoned the British freighter, Cb'ty of Newcastle, at the dock and estab-lished-a mild state of mutiny. As a religious protest they camped on the dock, bringing their own food. They refused to return to the ship until tho Buddhist cook was discharged, and alleging thnt their food was contaminated by contact with an unbeliever. LONDON, July 12. Proof of debts amounting close to a half million sterling, including £213,000, were entered by one creditor proved against Lord Terrington in the bankruptcy Court. The doctor’s certificate stated Terrington, at present at Monte Carlo, is unfit to travel, and the slightest effort, mental or physical, would probably be fatal. The Official Recoil - er commented on Terrington being not sufficiently ill to leave England, yet too ill to return there, though grave matters are awaiting explanation. The debtor claims he is perfectly solvent subject to the realisation of the assets. Ho attributed his failure to repay tho loans to his clients to excessive interest charged by money lenders, ill health, coal and general strikes. Tho creditors include names of famous families’.
IMPERIAL CONFERENCE. LONDON, July 12. In the House of Commons Ormsby Gore stated lie had not heard of any change in the Imperial .Conference arrangements owing to the political conditions in Canada. It was proposed to give full consideration to the overseas settlement at the coming Conference The Government is most.anxious to co-operate to the fullest extent with the Dominions on this subject.
