[Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.] ROSE’S HOPES. (Received this day at 11.0 a.in.) LONDON, July 8. Rose is confident he will equal Ills New Zealand performances, despite tho cinder track. His fourth appearance on a cinder track was eleven seconds better than the first. He covered two miles on a grass track at Brighton in 9.32, which is two seconds outside his Australian and New Zealand record. Ho is very anxious to meet Nurmi, but sporting officials in England and the continent are unaware of bis whereabouts. It is very likely, however, that Nurmi will compete at the Dutch championships on the 18th. and for these Rose has entered for tho fifteen hundred and five thousand mdtres. Later he expects to go to Stockholm, leaving, for America on Aug. 25th. and for New Zealand on Sept. Bth.
