Tn explaining to the House the situation, tho Premier, Mr AleKenzic King said that there was, at present, no Government. He was not Prime Minister. “I can speak only as a member of this House, and'in tlie circumstances, His Excellency is without an adviser. I do not think it proper that the House should proceed to discuss anything. Someone must assume the responsibility of His Excellency’s advisor to get a dissolution in the existing circumstances, and, until His Excellency has an adviser, I submit tlint tlie House should not proceed to discuss any matters whatever.”
CAUSE OF RESIGNATION. OTTAWA, June 28. The Government’s resignation followed upon more than a week’s hectic debate on the report of the special committee which found that there had been maladministration in the Customs Department.
