SCHOOLS FOOTBALL.

A meeting convened by Air Partridge was held on Saturday, Juno 26th for the- purpose of making arrangements for the Schools Competition to bo carried on by a committee of teachers under the jurisdiction of the Westland Sub-Union.

Tho following committee was elected to control the competition : —Alessrs Partridge, Williamson, Smith, (Hokitika), Pitt (Ross), Afanson (Woodstock), and Father Mealy (Ross). Air AVilliamson was elected secre r tary. The following regulations were drawn up:— 1. —Players to bo bonafido school hoys vouched for by teachers. 2. —Weight: eight stone and under in football togs without boots; all weigths to bo certified by teachers before first match. 3. —Country schools may combine to form a team. 4. —Alatcbes to consists ol two 30minute spells with a five minutes interval. -

s.—Alatcbes to be played on Wednesday or Saturday its arranged by the committee.

The following colours were registered:—Hokitika District High School, white; Ross, light blue ' and dark blue: Riinu Combined, black and white.

The following teams ore taking part: Hokitika District High School A and B. Riinu District Combined Schools, Ross, Convent-Arahura Combined. The following draw for the first round was made:—

Hokitika A v. Ross sit Ross. Saturday, July 3rd. (Ross to arrange referee). Rimu Combined v. Hokitika B at Hokitika. (Timo and ground to be announced later). Convent-Arnhiira, a bye.

Alessrs Partridge land Williamson wore appointed u sub-committee to make arrangements for subsequent matches.

It was resolved that collections lie taken on the grounds at Wednesday mid Saturday morning matches in Hokitika, and at all other matches, the proceeds to. be devoted to defraying travelling expenses incurred.
