| Australian &'N.Z. Cable Association.] V,. CAILLAUX’S RAID. PARIS, June 28. AL Caillaux (the new Finance Alinister), lias commenced his chreer as a Financial Dictator by compulsorily retiring At. Robineau, the Governor of the Bank of France, and promoting M. Moreau, Governor of the Bank of Algeria, to the highest position in the French blanking world. Al. Robineau liad always refused to allow the Bank of France’s gold reserves to be used as a- cover for the Government’s transactions that were undertaken to save tlie franc. The sensation is increased by a report that Baron Edouard Do Rothschild, another director of the Bank of France, who has been supporting At. Robineau, may rais'd resign. Al. Caillaux considers that tbe stabilisation of the franc is necessary, and ) that this problem is unsolvable without a resort to the gold reserves, all of which are in tbe coffers of tbe Bank of , France.
Al. Caillaux is also sending AL Bokanowski ( a member of the Chamber Finance Commission) to Wellington to ascertain tbe possibility of obtaining credits in America.'
