A FAREWELL SOCIAL

TO REV. AND AIRS FRASER. There was a large attendance at St. Andrew’s Hall last evening when a farewell social was tendered to Rev. R. B. and Mrs Fraser liy the members of the Presbyterian congregation and friends on the eve of their severing their connection with the Church at Hokitika. Apologies were received rom Air AY Folley, Aliss Al. .T. Potts and Airs Chesuey. The folowing musical programme was rendered: Piano duet, Misses Robinson; solo, Aliss Forsyth; monologue, (encored) Air Conning; solo, (encored) Air Bruce Adam: recitation, Aliss Rita Clarke; piano solo, Aliss Phyllis Thompson; recitation, Al aster Billy Blair; solo, Miss Ivy Shand. Air James Park (elder of the Church) ueforred to the approaching departure of Air and Airs Fraser and spoke in flattering terms to the splendid service rendered by Air Fraser as their pastor. His departure would be deeply regretted, while .Mrs Fraser would also be greatly missed. He asked acceptance on Behalf of their many friends of a pursy l of sovereigns as a mark of their respect and appreciation. Hon H. L. Alichel, Air J. A. Alurdoeli. Rev. J. Perkins, Rev. Dibits (Txuniarn) and Air Bruce Adam (Ross), also spoke in laudatory terms of the work of Rev. and Airs Fraser, during their location in the 1 town and the general regret felt at their coming departure. Rev Air. Fraser replied in a very feeling speech, thanking their friends for their substantial gift and expressing the ko?n regret he felt at leaving the district whereof lie had such very pleasant recollections. Supper was then handed round by the ladies and the gathering concluded with tk? singing of Autd Lang Svne and the National Anthem.
