RE WILLIAM EDWARD BROWN—DECEASED. % The District Public Trustee at Greymouth writes:— Probate was granted to the Public Trustee on Bth inst. of the Will of the late William Edward Brown of Waiutu who died at Reefton on 3ist March last. Under dect/iscd s AYiil the stun of fiiifX) is to he set aside oil the death of his wife Etiphemia Elder Brown and the. income therefrom paid to tho Mayor of Hokit ika and applied by him in providing Christmas cheer or comforts for such poor orphan children, or poor aged and infirm persons residing in and around the Borough of Hokitika. Tho bequest under the Will roads as follows:

“Upon trust to set apart and appropriate thereout the clcpr sum of fivo hundred pounds (£300) as a memorial to my wife, Eupheinia Elder Brown, and to commemorate her unfailing love and devotion to the aged and littlo children whoso lives were brightened by her love and sympathy towards them and to he known as “The Euplicmia Brown Memorial Fund" and to invest- the same in the Common Fund of the, Public Trust Office Mid to pay the income arising therefrom for all time as from the dentil of the survivor of my said wife and me in tho month of December in each year to the Mayor for the time being in office of the Borough nT Hokitika to he applied by him ill providing Christmas cheer or comforts for such poor orphan children, or poor aged and infirm persons residing in .and around the Borough of Hokitika in such manner and in such shares and proportions as such Mayor shall think fit.”
