WKSTPOKT. .Juno 23. A case in wiiif-!i considerable l<mil interest has been taken occupied .Mr W . Meldrum, Warden, when T. Ihive sued Morgunte and others for C37CX) for coal alleged to be wrongfully taken out of the plaintiff's ladling lease at Seddonville and dmiuges. 'I he defendants counter claimed for '£1490 damages to a coal drive and for loss ol coal extraction. Only the plaintiffs had given evidence when the court 'adjourned lute last night, as the Warden had to leave for Hokitika in the early morning to hold court there, Adverse comment is made here on the efforts to work the whole of the West Coast with one Magistrate and Warden, it being pointed out that Mr Meldrum, who left Grevmouth at 6 a.m. on Pi it n relay was engaged up till 12 p.m. on Tuesday, and then had to leave next- morning for Hokitika, thus leaving the important mining ease only partly heard.
