WESTLAND SUB-UNION. AIONDAY, JUNE 21. The Sub-Union met at 8 p.m. Present—Alessrs F. AlcGregor (President), J. Stafford, Lawn. Partridge, Adam, Cutbush. Burns, J. Breeze, D. Dowell, Steele and I-leenau. The minutes were confirmed and correspondence outward approved. SCHOOLS COAIPETITION. Nominations were received for the Schools 8 stone competition from— Hokitika School A and B, Riniu and district school and Ross. SHRIMP 7-ASIDE. For tho re-play of the Shrimp Sevenaside Tournament, nominations were received from—Hokitika School A. B, C, D, E; Ross. A and B; Excelsior. A and B; Kiwi. A and R; Riniu, A, and B. Notice of motion by Air Howat to j rescind decision in the Kanieri-Ross j match was withdrawn. The affiliation fee of £4 4s to the West Coast Rugby Union was passed for payment. It was resolved to supply a football to the Knnieri school and Ross school teams. A request by Basil Gibbons for reclassification Lo junior grade was refused. James Bannister wrote in reference to his classification. After discussion a motion to classify him as a senior was defeated by fi to 4. Ai r Partridge moved that the Shrimps tournament commence on Saturday, June 2Ctli, at 10.30 a.m. and the semifinals and finals lie reserved fob the afternoon from I p.m. to 3 p.m. Seconded by Air Stafford and carried. AH Adam moved that the junior competition consist of three rounds. Seconded by AH Stafford and carried. It was resolved that the junior fixtures lie postponed next Saturday on account of the Shrimps tournament. The carrying out of the Schools Bst. competition was left in the hands of AH Partridge to control. AfATCH FOR SATURDAY. Stars v. Hokitika, at Hokitika, at 3 p.m. (AH E. W. ITeenan). AH Partridge moved that the Union views with displeasure the action of Mr Cutbush in passing disparaging remarks about AH Gaylor’s control of a recent match and tho Union assure Alr Gaylor of its confidence in his ability as a referee. Seconded by Mr Howat and carried.
It was resolved that a player bo asked to attend next meeting in connection with alleged betting. It was resolved that the second round oT the junior competition commence on Saturday, July 3rd. The following will represent the Hokitika seniors against Stars on (Saturday next.:—King, Steel, Gibbons, .J. Stopforth, Pfahlert, Kinloeh, McCleary, Shaw. Dougherty. Griffiths, Freitas, Peril am, Baird, Devancy, Halm. Emergency: Carter.
Tn view of tho senior game on Cass ■Square on Saturday next against the Stars. Hie members of the local fifteen ■should make all ’possible use of practice available. In their last game against Uniteds, want of condition robbed them of a win, as the team as a whole fired badly in tile closing portion of the play. The team selected is a fairly strong one, if the stamina condition is there and it is for the players themselves to attend to this.
