SATIJItDAY’SGAMES. The Sub-Union Competitions continue on Saturday at tiie several centres. At Greymouth the senior game is between United and Stars. On Cass Square the junior game Excelsiors v. Kokatalu takes place with Mr Partridge as referee. There are also two, third grade games, Rimu v. Kiwi and School v. Excelsior, set down for Cass Square. The junior game, Kanieri v. Boss takes place at Ross. EXCELSIOR TEA.MS FOR TOMORROW. Juniors v. [by TELF.r.n.U’W —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION j N.Z. UNION. WELLINGTON, June 16. At a meeting of the Management Conimitoc of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-night, the chairman, Mr S. S. Dean, said lie thought that New Zealand should be adequately represented at the next Olympic Games, when an appeal for support was made by the Olympic Council. It was decided to reply that the Union would give all the help it could.
A letter was received from Hawke’s Bay, asking for a match against the All Blacks to tour Australia. It was decided that the suggestion would he considered, but at present it is not thought practicable.
It was decided that the captain and vice-captain should unveil a. memorial to the late Robert (Dickie) McGregor, now being erected by New Zealand footballers and admirers over his grave in Sydney. \
The South Canterbury Union complained that the South Island selectors made no effort to gain first-hand knowledge of the players nominated by tlieir Union. The letter was received.
Air C. J. Rutherford, secretary of the French Rugby Union, wrote stating that lie would he able to advise definite acceptance of the French tour of New Zealand next season in a month’s time.
Rugby is evidently booming in Samoa. A letter received from the Union there stated that over 200 had been engaged in the competitions there this season. Their teams had beaten the representatives from the warships, and they were looking forward in the future to a tour of New Zealand, and to playing their Afaori cousins. WELLINGTON, June 16. Air S. S. Dean, chairman of the New Zealand Rugby Union, stated to-day that in reporting the selection of the All Black team for the Australian tour the selectors, Messrs E. AtoKenzie, Geddis and Davies, said that N. P. AfcGregor (Canterbury) and George Nepia (Hawke’s Bay) were not available. PAHIATUA, June 17. In a Rugby rep. game, Bush District overwhelmed Ptiketoi Sub-Union by 52 to nil. displaying despite a heavy ground brilliant hack and forward work in spectacular cool combined movements.
