SA.WMILLERS APPEAL. WELLINGTON, June 18. Tlie siuvrnillers are agitating for an increase in tariff on imported timber, as the native product is handicapped by increased railway freights and other costs besides the low cost of milling on a large scale employed in foreign countries. OTAKI HOSPITAL. OTAKI, June 18. As a result of an accident ease reported as being refused admission to the Otaki hospital yesterday a meeting of the citizens passed a resolution today asking Mr Field, Member for the district, to demand from the Minister of Health that the hospital be not only kept open but made more up to date. Similar resolutions were passed at the School Committee meeting and the Hockey Associations dinner, while various bodies are combining to issist a large meeting of protest. VICTORIA COLLEGE.
