ADDINGTON STOCK SALES, A FfBAI .MARKET.

(By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs 11. Matson and Co. report as follows regarding tlieir stock sale at Addington yards yesterday:— Store Sheep.—A large yarding for this time of the year and comprised largely North Island ewes, which generally speaking were of a. very inferior (|iiality and decidedly showed signs of travel. A fair number of hoggets and wethers were also yarded and these together with any decent sorts of local ewes were linn, at last week’s rates. North Island and travelled sheep were decidedly sticky. S.M.. crossbred ewes 23s to 27, lairling ditto 18s fid'to 21s (id, two-tooth crossbred ditto to 235, good crossbred ewes hoggets 23s to 275. crossbred wether hoggets 18s fid to 21s fid, best forward wethers 2-ls fid to 275, good two tooth ditto 22s to 26s 3d.

Store Cattle.—A small yarding and no quotable lilies yarned. Fat Pigs.—A small entry. The demand was very keen and prices were in advance of late rates owing to the short supply. Values.—Light porkers nos to (Jos. heavy 70s to 80s, average price O'd to lOd, light bncopers £4 10s to Co. heavy £5 12s to £0 ss, extra to C 7. average B}d to Pd. Choppers £3 8s Gd to CO 18s fid. Store Pigs.—Only a small entry forward and prices were hotter all round. Values were: Weaners 13s to 21s, small, stores 32s to 3Gs, medium 38s ‘to Its; no large stores were offering. Beef.—A similar sized yarding to last week comprising mostly steers and included consignments from North Island as well as Chatham Island, some of the latter being exceptionally good. Heifers and cows were similar to last week and sold better in proportion than steers, and the market was slightly firmer all round. Prime steers £l4 to £ls 15s, extra to_ v £2s 15s, extra to £22; medium £ll to £l3 IDs, others to £8 5s ; prime heifers £9 15s to £11; extra to £l2; medium £7 ins to £9, others to £4 Ids. Prime eows '£7 15s to £lO 10s, extra to £l3 os; medium Cfi 10s to £8 10s. others to £4 ss. Fat Sheep.—Another very large yarding of mutton and the quality generally was excellent. Exporters were hardly as keen as last sale and the market opened somewhat easier. However, towards the end the sale improved considerably and finished quite as firm ns last week’s, the average rate of schedule prices being fully maintained. Prime wethers 32s fid to 335, extra to 39s lOd ; medium 29s to 325, others to 27s 6df prime ewes 21s fid to 25s fid, extra to medium ISs to 21s; others to 13s fid. Fat Lambs.—A small yarding and comprised mostly washings up and exporters were operating keenly throughout and considering'the quality offering the sale was firm throughout-'and schedule prices fully maintained.
