FOOTBALL.
At the weekly meeting of the West Coast Hug by Union held at Greymouth last evening. A letter was received from the Southland Rugby Union, advising their inability to tour the Seddoii Shield Unions’ Districts this season. Canterbury Union wrote offering a guarantee of £75, and minimum of £SO of the gate for a match with the West Coast touring team. It was resolved to write and acknowledge with thanks for the offer, and to ask if lltli September would be a suitable date. A letter was received from the Buller Union re the annual home and home match, which is played first at Westport. It was resolved to offer them July 2 or as an alternative date, July 9. An application for re-admis-sion to the Rugby code was received from James Kennedy, which was granted subject to the necessary form of application being filled in correctly. The senior fixture Stars v. United was 'fixed for Saturday.
