KOITERANGI NOTES

(From A Correspondent.)

Now that the milking season is over farmers and their families are once again seeking a little relaxation front their arduous duties which necessarily accompany the production of butter fat during the summer months. Upper Koiterongi have set the ball rolling with their fortnightly euchre and dances which have been so popular during the last two years.

Despite the inclemency of the weather the school house in which those popular little functions nave been held, was crowded with visitors from far and near, once again demonstrating the necessity for providing greater accommodation.

The residents here who are wide awake lo the requirements of this progressive district, held n general meeting to discuss the position. Mr S. Havill, the energetic chairman of the school committee went fully into details, and pointed out that the school house had been erected without cost to the Education Department and by working on similar lines a Public Hall could be erected at a small cost. After lengthy discussion it was unanimously decided to erect a Public Hall. 40 feet by 2.5 feet adjacent to the school house. The residents who have the habit of getting things done, immediately got hsny and under the able leadership of Mr IV. Young, erected the Hall in eight days, which shows what can he done hy a few settlers "forking in harmony for the welfare of the district. The. Hall, which is well-designed is built of iron and is both an ornament and an asset and should meet the requirements of the district for some years.
