THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES,

Tun Erratic Motorist. A motorist needs all bis wits about him, for even when travelling at the compartively slow speed of twenty-five miles an. hour, situations may, and do, arise demanding very quick and accurate thought and action. A motorist who lias partaken of alcoholic liquor, maybe only two or three glasses of beer, loses that sensitiveness and clearness of thought and vision that are absolutely essential for effective control of the vehicle he is driving. The menace must be stopped, and thoughtful people who realise that the community is entitled to proper protection will agree, with the imposition of a heavy fine, and if that does n. prove the position substantial terms of imprisonment should be imposed. Motorists must realise tlieir responsibilities to the community.—Wanganui “ Herald.”
